Sandymoor Pool is our clubs flagship water, and has been owned
outright by the club since 1994. A very picturesque lake of about
5.2 acres, set in 7 acres of land, this fantastic water is easily
accesible from all of Runcorn and the surrounding area, via the
A557 Daresbury expressway.
Species of fish present include Common and Mirror Carp, Tench,
Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Gudgeon, Chub, Crucian Carp. We have
also introduced a number of Barbel. The pool has four islands
- 3 permanent and one floating pontoon, a bridge joining the two
sides, and many small channels and bays to explore. With more
than 60 swims, there is provision for up to 80 anglers.
Sandymoor started out as two relatively small natural ponds (the
side that you encounter immediately from the car park), and has
progressively grown in size to the water you now see today. The
other half was dug out around 28 years ago, in 1972, by Manpower
Services. It was at this time that the pool was stocked with Italian
Strain Carp, which were bought from Humberside Fisheries.
With depths varying from 3ft in the 'big' side to around 6 or
7ft by the car park, there are numerous features to attract both
fish and angler.
